About Bertie Clark – Woodwork
Based in Hurst Near Martock, South Somerset, Bertie Clark is a dedicated craftsman specialising in creating a diverse range of wooden structures and furniture. Growing up in a creatively enriched environment, with a stone-carver father and an artist mother, Bertie was naturally inclined towards hands-on artistry.
Upon returning from Australia in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bertie embraced self-employment, focusing primarily on carpentry. He collaborated with Arthur Lynch of Green Oak Timber Framing, gaining experience in raising oak-framed buildings. Additionally, he worked with environmentalist Julia Hailes on various projects, including designing an egg-shaped door for a chicken run, constructing a wavy pontoon, creating a marshland wooden track, and developing a state-of-the-art insect house.
Clients and collaborators consistently commend Bertie for his creativity, resourcefulness, reliability, and efficiency. His workshop in Martock serves as a hub for crafting bespoke wooden pieces that blend classic and contemporary designs, ensuring a timeless quality in every creation.
