About Combe Head House
Combe Head House is a historic property nestled on the edge of The Blackdown Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South Somerset. With origins dating back to around 1580, the house boasts a stunning Elizabethan inglenook fireplace in its Tudor hall. This fireplace stands at the heart of a home radiating the rich history and timeless charm of the era. The house was childhood home to Lara, who now resides at the property with her husband, Benedict, and their two sons. They have lovingly restored and expanded the estate, including opening the converted old stables next to the main house into a charming holiday cottage – The Stables. This cozy retreat, decorated with vintage pieces, comfortably sleeps six people and offers a perfect countryside escape. In addition to The Stables, the estate is soon to open The Old Lodge, the gatehouse and former gardener’s lodge that will accommodate 8-10 guests. It is an old cob cottage with original beams and fireplace. The family runs a smallholding on the estate, focusing on sustainable living. They grow a variety of produce in their kitchen garden and rear rare breed pigs and turkeys for meat. The estate is also home to sweet pygmy goats, pretty chickens, and a flock of picturesque sheep. Combe Head House is not just a private residence but also a hub of community and hospitality. They frequently host supper club events throughout the year, and the hall and garden can be hired for catered private events and parties. Additionally, a variety of courses are offered, providing visitors with opportunities to learn new skills in a beautiful, historic setting.
