Dinnington Docks: A Timeless Country Gem

Nestled in the rolling Somerset countryside, Dinnington Docks is a rare and unspoilt country pub offering charm, history, and outstanding hospitality. Its beautiful garden provides stunning views, and there’s plenty of parking, along with a traditional skittle alley for a touch of local fun. The pub is renowned for its Cask Marque-approved ales, local ciders, spirits, and a well-curated wine list, with many wines available by the glass. The menu features locally sourced ingredients, delivering pub classics, daily specials, and delicious starters, mains, and desserts that satisfy both comfort food lovers and foodies alike. Dinnington Docks is cherished by locals and visitors as a place where good food and drink are always well served. Its interior, virtually untouched for 60 years, adds to its nostalgic charm, with many features dating back even further. Housed in a stunning Hamstone building, the pub sits along the ancient Fosse Way Roman road. Once part of the vast Poulett family estate, the land was gifted to their loyal falconer. In its early days, this pub was known as the Rose & Crown and is thought to have been a coaching stop in the 1600s. The foundation stones of the building are believed to have been taken from a nearby Roman villa, excavated by Channel 4’s Time Team. The crew even enjoyed a few pints here while filming, with the pub’s unspoilt interior serving as a perfect backdrop. Dinnington Docks is more than a pub—it’s a step back in time, offering a true taste of Somerset tradition.
