Prince of Wales – A Pub with a Bright New Chapter

There’s a wonderful sense of renewal in the air up on Ham Hill this year thanks to the new owners at the Prince of Wales. After nearly two decades under the stewardship of the Holroyd family the pub has passed into fresh hands, and the future looks exciting for this much-loved local spot in South Somerset.

A Warm Welcome to New Owners

In mid-2025 the Holroyd family confirmed that an offer had been accepted for the Prince of Wales and introduced the new team who have taken the reins, Andy and SophieLisa and Mark and Rob and Leanne. With strong local roots and family values at the heart of their venture they’re already creating a warm, welcoming place for visitors and locals alike.

From the moment you step through the doors it feels like a pub reawakened. There’s a real community buzz here, the kind that lives and breathes in the easy laughter around shared tables, in lively conversations at the bar and in the music that now regularly fills the space.

Christmas 2025 and a Festive Turnout

Christmas at the Prince of Wales in 2025 was something special and a wonderful glimpse of what this pub means to the local community. A huge Christmas tree took centre stage in the pub garden, lighting up the early winter evenings and drawing neighbours together. Live music from a local brass band filled the crisp air, adding a joyful soundtrack to mulled drinks, laughter and the first muddy boots of the season. For many it felt like the start of something new and memorable. there was even a snow machine!

This festive atmosphere wasn’t just about celebrations, it was a statement of intent. The Prince of Wales isn’t just a place to eat and drink, it’s a place where community spirit thrives, where traditions are honoured and new ones are already forming.
